SerenadeFor Puabi
Lying close together, in sweet silence;
Her tender sigh in my ear.
Singing softly her serenade;
The only word I hear,
"Beloved!"
Her slender arms around me;
Moist eyes looking into mine.
Our moments as long as days,
In our serene space beyond time.
There is no place,
Except the world borne from our long embrace.
The WordPage 2For Puabi
"Beloved!"
Her tender call, the only word
Of her magic spell;
Wafting along in the breeze each day;
What it will do,
We both know well.
Then, in my heart and mind so deep,
Another word will dwell;
That word is her sweet name.
"Puabi!"
It banishes all doubt and pain.
Then will surely know.
I merely need to utter this word,
In response to her spell;
It seals our covenant of love divine,
Beyond all conceived time.
Knocking
One late mid-November evening,
After twilight fell,
The wind, it howled and rustled wood;
No feet walked on the road.
The rain had fallen late , that year;
It had left the earth a musty smell.
The sky was as pitch as a shroud;
The scene was as silent as a tomb.
Some blocks down one road in the town,
There stood one tall house, and rather old;
To each side, towering dark trees had stood;
Their limbs reaching towards the window sill.
The wind, it howled and rattled the trees;
The branches knocked upon the glass.
The owner of that house believed 't was nature's call;
He declined to go and look.
One hour or so later, the air was calm;
To SleepPerchance, To Dream
In memory of Randolph Carter*
These eyes grow dull from assaulting light;
They and this heart long for the night.
The hours between midnight and dawn,
When these eyes may be locked tight.
To sleep.
Perchance, to dream.
The bustle of daily life dwindles out;
Naught but the wind fills these ears.
I drift steadily back through time,
By hours; perhaps by years.
Around my weary form there stands
Remnants of ancient and long-forgotten lands;
But, by the dimensions of what I found,
They must have been built by enormous hands.
Then, with the intrusion of dawn's pale light,
I drift again, awaken and await
The coming of
Corridors
Night is falling steadily;
A long black curtain, descending.
Silence, stillness so deep,
Like a nameless crypt.
It is so hard to stay awake.
Far away, the tyres and the horns of cars;
But nobody is speaking.
As though they all are asleep--
Or dead.
Yet this solitude disturbs me not;
It is so long overdue.
Leading me through the corridors of the night;
No matter how far it must take,
No matter where, and when, it will end.
The WordFor Puabi
If there could be a word to speak,
To make the grey skies turn to brightest blue;
To chase the dark, rain-filled clouds,
And to let the bright sunlight through;
That word would be the name I keep
Deep within my heart;
The name of someone I will always love,
And with whom I will never part......
Puabi.
Aww! Beloved!
End of the DayFor Puabi
From morning till dusk, the thunder crashed;
Rain fell madly from the sky.
I sat back in my chair, to listen, today;
I waited quietly for the storm to drift away;
Then her face caught my eye.
I turned and moved my arm around;
My hand held her hand so tight.
And I heard her softly say,
"Beloved!"
Together, till the day and the storm had passed,
In a love that will never die.
While we held hands, I surely felt
A hand reaching for my heart.
"Beloved!"
We are together now, as we should be;
And we will never part.
HimComposed by Puabi
He is not so tall, nor strong, like Goliath.
He is clever and wise, like Solomon.
His chest is a shield.
His heart is warm and tender for me,
As is my heart for him.
His voice, a song to my ears and my heart;
I will always sing the chorus.
Together, we lie in quiet repose
Throughout the long and silent night;
No end in sight, to the love we share
Nor shall we ever part.
That is the covenant those on high
Have written there for us.
A very happy birthday for my beloved!
Reaching up into the sky
I wanted to embrace the half moon
I could cradle it in my arms
And throw it into this sea of sound
I’ll make a wish as it sinks into darkness
All the way to the bottom of midnight
Sending ripples through the clouds
It’s more than a penny thrown into a well
My heart is overflowing
Torn out and crumpled up
I could shriek and tear the night sky
I could sing
As I digest this echoing melancholy
White space returns
I’m just as empty as before
Reaching up into the sky
I wanted to embrace the laughing half moon
My hands are overflowing
Even if I left these wounds gaping and raw
I won’t bleed a single

-Three Days Of Rain- (2012)
The words on my tongue have no meaning
A sorrowful hymn echoed off the tiles
A foreign language floating through the steam
The hot water took away my tears
But the confusion and pain still linger
I repaired this broken melody
As it turns in my sleepy head
With stars on my toes I’ll skip out into this morning
Into the golden sunrise
Into the rain that falls so coldly
I won’t be mislead
Truly, this sky shatters the darkness
I dreamt in color just before I woke
Before the rain could ruin those brilliant images
Drenched and embraced by the lonely spring rain
I can dance for a little while longer
I can sing this love song o
