This is
Firstly:
The cliche competition is still open!
The deadline has been extended once more, to allow members who are currently within education to use the Christmas Holidays as time to complete their entries.
The new deadline is the 15th of February 2013
This will be the last deadline extension.
Secondly:
There seems to be a lack of people using the critiquing folder, and by lack of people I mean none whatsoever. Please feel free to start putting forth submissions, don't worry I will not bite.
Thirdly:
MotifInk is an online magazine that is currently looking for contributors. If you are interested in writing articles on literature events, plays, films, books or your favorite author then check out the site: www.motifink.wordpress.com and have a look at the application page. There is also a need for illustrators and photographers. These positions are unpaid but the hope is to create a site that will produce feedback and help push previously unseen artists and writers into the public eye. Even if your unsure if the site would suit you have a look or perhaps send me a note if you can see an area where the site could expand into.
Penultimate point:
A couple of items here. One is that I'm starting up a weekly prompt. This will be a word or sentence, (perhaps accompanied by an image) and each prompt will include a word limit or style of literature to be adhered to. The reason for this is I wish to try and encourage writers to expand their creative boundaries and work outside their comfort zones. The first prompt will go up tomorrow.
Lastly:
Could all who read this journal leave a quick response in the comments. Even if it is simply a 'hello' or 'hi'. This will allow me to get a measurement of how many people are actually reading these journals and if I need to work out a new way of contacting members. On that note, if you believe it would be more beneficial, how many members would be interested in the setting up of a monthly newsletter for this group? It would be electronic and members would be able to email me submissions, advertisements for competitions or pieces of work to be featured. Rather like a 'featured' journal article but with a little more substance. (It could also be a monthly e-magazine.)
