Guidelines

- You have March and April to write your short stories.

- They need to be between 2,000 and 3,000 words in length.

- Entries must be written for the competition, they must also be solely for this competition.

- Prompt? There isn't really a prompt. Just pick the genre you love most of run with it. Fantasy, life-writing, historical, whatever you adore then use that as the springboard for your story.

- One last thing. No need to join the group, this contest is open to all writers on DA. Just bang out your story, give it a good proofing and stick it in the folder for judging.

Deadline is April 30th 12.00pm GMT

Folder For Entries: writers-extrodinaire.deviantar…

All entries after this deadline will be automatically disqualified.

So go get your writer skates on!

A Little Prompting?

Stuck for what to write? We're now hosting a weekly prompt journal with five choices of prompts to choose from. No need to be a member, just pick a prompt and follow the guidelines, it's only one hundred words of your time. Don't worry about what you write just give us the first one hundred words that pop into your head for that prompt. Interested?

Short Story Shenanigans - A Little Prompting?Wow. I have to say that the interest in out little competition so far has been brilliant.
However, it has come to my attention that the 'whatever you want to write' angle of the challenge is leaving some a little lost as to where to begin. So here's what we're going to do.
Each Thursday up until the deadline there will be a new journal article with five prompts to peruse at your pleasure. There is no competition in this, I want your gut reactions. Try one, or try all five, just give me the first one hundred words that pop into your head and slam them down in a comment.
The task is one hundred words for each prompt. You don't have to do them all, but if you try your hand at more than one can you please submit individual comments for each one hundred words and include the prompt in brackets at the end. Thank you.
Now if you don't want to use the prompts you don't have to. They have no real relation to the competition, they're just a springboard for any writers who want to

Calling for Judges and prizes as well. Entries will be divided up among the judges and they will put forward the best two from their pile for consideration for the final three spots. If judges wish to enter then their entry will be judged by one of the other Judges to avoid bias.
